Saving Space and Energy with the BSD 81

The powerful BSD 81 rotary screw compressor represents the very latest advances in efficiency, design and innovative technology. The compact 45 kW unit provides an impressive free-air delivery of 8.15 m³/min (287.8 cfm) at 7.5 bar and further extends the highly successful BSD range of Kaeser screw compressors. Our unique split cooling air flow provides exeptionally low noise levels of only 70 db(A).  Plus, the compact, space-saving design allows the unit to be installed in close proximity to the working environment.
All BSD units feature a specially designed large, low speed SIGMA profile airend which uses 15 % less energy compared to conventional designs. The airend and EFF1 * rated drive motor are designed to operate at the same low speed and are linked via a 1:1 maintenance-free drive coupling. This 1:1 direct drive technique reduces the number of components needed and eliminates the transmission losses associated with other drive systems, leading to increased reliability and service life. 
These features ensure maximum energy efficiency and are further enhanced by an innovative cooling system. An energy-saving radial fan with high residual thrust directly draws in ambient air to provide necessary cooling. 
This prevents the air from being pre-warmed by machine components, which radiate heat whilst the unit is in operation, resulting in significant reserves and allows low compressed air discharge temperatures of only 7 K above ambient temperature. 
Clean, dry quality compressed air protects air tools, pneumatic control gear and the compressed air system itself from corrosion and other damage, avoiding unnecessary maintenance or prolonged and costly downtime. When it comes to providing high quality compressed air, the BSD 81-T compressed air package complete with dryers and filters will purify the air in line with the most exacting standards. 
Contained in its own separate cabinet, there is more than sufficient space to allow all the components in the dryer to be generously sized yet easily accessible for maintenance. This design prevents exposure of the refrigeration dryer to any heat from the compressor package. Individual cooling air apertures and an excellent design allow the BSD 81-T package to operate reliably and permit safe operation even in conditions of high ambient temperature and humidity. In addition, a cyclonic separator with an electronic “Eco Drain” condensate drain is installed within the compressor cabinet upstream of the dyer. The separator ensures efficient separation and drainage of condensate to further aid effective operation of the dryer. 
As with every direct drive Kaeser compressor, the BSD 81 is fitted as standard with the internal “SIGMA Control”. Based on an industrial PC with Intel processors, the SIGMA control opens up a whole range of advantages such as additional energy savings, reduced maintenance requirement, increased compressor availability and reliability coupled with simple operation. The SIGMA control system has the flexibility to communicate with and constantly monitor the compressor, refrigeration dryer and condensate drains and can also be easily connected to a central control system to allow remote access. This means that a manufacturer’s service technician is able to directly communicate with the compressor system via a standard modem or industrial bus connection and can immediately forward any maintenance relevant information to the compressor operator.
